White Russian Recipe
This Skinny White Russian Recipe is amazing and delicious! We have swapped the cream for soy creamer and added a caramel rim to kick this classic cocktail up a notch and take down the calorie count. A White Russian with less calories? Sign me up!
We all have our favorite cocktail. Whether it be margaritas, sangria, or martinis, it’s nice to have a skinnier version to fall back on when you don’t want to drink ALL of your calories for one day. I’ve always had a soft spot for creamy drinks, especially at the end of a long hard week. (HELLO FRIYAY!) The problem with creamy drinks is the CREAM. It’s not enough to just substitute skim milk in place of heavy cream, because it’s just not the same.
As much as you tell yourself it is, it isn’t. I want that cool, smooth texture that makes me feel like I’m sipping on a dessert. Lucky for me, and all you fellow creamy cocktail lovers, this low calorie White Russian recipe has all of the creaminess and none of the guilt…it’s a total win win!
Leave the calories behind without leaving the flavor in this delicious skinny cocktail recipe!
Skinny White Russian Cocktail
I can hear you all yelling, this is too good to be true. Well folks, its not! I made this Skinny White Russian recipe with Soy Creamer, which only 20 CALORIES PER SERVING. That being said, you should still drink it responsibly (one is enough). I have been a huge lover of Silk Almond Milk for years, but I had never tried their creamer. WHY? I was really missing out.
It’s the perfect add-in to various recipes, your morning coffee, cocktails, or anything else calling for heavy cream. It comes in some great flavors like Hazelnut Soy, Caramel Almond, and Vanilla Almond, but I chose to go with the Original Soy Creamer. You can’t go wrong here, you’ll never miss your heavy cream. It makes these Skinny White Russians just the guilt free Friday treat I was needing.
So happy to have a lower calorie version of a classic drink, so I can drink without counting calories.
Why is it called a “White Russian”?
It’s as simple as the main ingredient being vodka. Seems a weak comparison to me, but I do love the drink! It’s a creamy, dreamy, delicious, and EASY cocktail recipe! The White Russian cocktail became especially popular when “The Dude” drank them regularly in the popular movie, “The Big Lebowski”.
If you’ve never tried this cocktail, now is your chance! Your guilt free chance! A White Russian with milk is good…but a skinny version with Soy Creamer is that much better! Save on the calories and still have a delicious cocktail.
How to Make a White Russian
This cocktail is so easy to make, you’ll wonder why you even needed to ask. The real question is in the ingredients, though. So what is in a White Russian recipe?
White Russian Ingredients:
- Vodka
- Kahlua
- Soy Creamer (for this skinny version, or milk in the traditional recipe)
Plus I added some sugar free caramel syrup to the rim for a little extra hit of flavor.
You can also make this classic cocktail into a mocktail by leaving out the vodka, and substituting the coffee liqueur for cooled coffee. It’s just as delicious, trust me! It’s the perfect way to unwind on any day, not just Fridays! And with Silk Creamer by our side, we no longer have to feel so guilty about a cocktail full of calories.
Typically I would worry about the amount of calories in a White Russian when deciding whether or not to indulge, but with this skinny version, I don’t have to worry about that anymore. This lower calorie recipe is a must make for any cocktail lover. I hope you give it a try!

When I make a white russian I always put lemonade instead of cream as I can’t drink cream is that still called a white russian
I think you created your own awesome recipe! I think you get to name it as its your invention. Sounds yummy! :)
There is 96 calories in a shot of vodka and 90 calories in a shot of khakis so there is no way there is only 20 calories using soy milk unless you are leaving out the liquor…give me a break!
One serving is only 1 tablespoon
Wow! I love this drink and I love your pictures!
What a great way to enjoy a cocktail favorite without the tax on your waistline!
Is this sponsored or funded by Silk? It would be nice if that was clearly expressed. I like to know if recipes are personal vs corporate-sponsored. Otherwise it feels like sneaky advertising. I was linked here by another site, so I have no idea if this is commonplace here.
There’s a clear sentence after one of her paragraphs stating such.
Here’s what the statement says:
”This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Silk. The opinions and text are all mine.”
Nothing sneaky here. :)
Whether opinion or Corp-sponsored, it’s still a great recipe and Silk is a good brand.
The only place that appears on this page is your comment!
Yum, yum, yum! Cannot wait to try this!
I do love that fun shot with the ice and the splash. It’s a winner for sure!
And, because these are skinny versions of a white Russian, I think I’ll have two :)
Awesome work, Bec. Love it all!
As always, absolutely stunning pictures!
I cannot use Soy. Is there something else other than cream I can use?
Try coconut creamer. Trader Joes has a tasty one.
I can’t use soy OR dairy so use Silk Almond Milk Creamer :) I also use that in my coffee!
