Course: Appetizer
Cuisine: American
Servings: 30 pigs in a blanket
- 8 ounces crescent dough sheets 1 package (see note)
- 14 ounces mini sausages 1 package
- 1 large egg beaten with a splash of water
- 2 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning store-bought or homemade
Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce (optional)
- ¼ cup country Dijon mustard
- 3 tablespoons honey
Unroll the crescent dough into a long rectangle. Cut the dough into thirds lengthwise, then cut each portion into thin strips (about ¼-inch thick). I recommend a pizza cutter for this, but a knife will work too!
8 ounces crescent dough sheets
Wrap one piece of dough around each mini sausage and pinch the seam to secure the dough. Place the wrapped sausage on a parchment-lined baking sheet and repeat with the remaining sausages.
14 ounces mini sausages
When the sausages are all wrapped, brush each one with the egg wash and top with a pinch of everything bagel seasoning.
1 large egg, 2 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning
Bake for 13-15 minutes, or until the pigs-in-a-blanket are golden brown.
Serve these pigs in a blanket with honey mustard, ketchup, or bbq sauce. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
¼ cup country Dijon mustard, 3 tablespoons honey
- Crescent Dough: If you can’t find crescent dough sheets, you can buy the traditional crescents in the tube and pinch the seams together to create one large rectangle.
- You can also make these pigs in a blanket with thawed frozen puff pastry sheets.
- Feel free to use whatever sausages you like, such as turkey, chicken, venison, or even hot dogs. If using full-sized sausages, simply cut them into quarters.
- You could use flaky sea salt or sesame seeds in place of the everything bagel seasoning.
- Pat the sausages dry with a paper towel before wrapping them in the crescent dough to help the dough stick and remove excess moisture that could lead to soggy pigs in a blanket.
-
To keep pigs in a blanket warm for a party, place them in a 225°F oven for up to 30 minutes.
- To make larger pigs in a blanket, use a full-sized hot dog or sausage and larger piece of crescent dough. You may need to adjust the baking time.
- Nutritional information does not include optional dipping sauce.
Storage: Store everything bagel pigs in a blanket in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days or in the freezer for up to 2 months.
