Ham and Pea Pasta Recipe

This creamy ham and pea pasta comes together in just 30 minutes, uses pantry staples, and most of it happens in one pot-- super simple!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound dry elbow macaroni (1 box)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (¼ stick)
  • 1 yellow onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 10 ounces frozen peas (1 package)
  • 16 ounces ham steaks cut into ½ inch cubes (2 packages)
  • cups heavy cream room temperature
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese plus more for serving
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  • Boil the pasta in salted water according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.

  • In a large skillet or Dutch oven, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté until translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Add in the garlic and cook for 1 more minute.

  • Add the ham and peas and cook for 2-3 more minutes.

  • Stir in the cream and stock. Simmer for 5 minutes or until slightly thickened.

  • Stir in the parmesan cheese, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the pasta. Cook, stirring, until warmed through.
